Chapa Dimba All-Stars set for historic thrill; to watch Barca take on Getafe

Undoubtedly visiting the Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain is a cherished dream for many a football fan! The dream gets sweeter if not surreal if one is a budding footballer. This is the kind of experience some young budding Kenyan footballers, 32 in total – 17 boys and 15 girls will be having tonight when they visit the ‘home of beautiful football’ as they watch the football giants Barca host Getafe tonight in a La Liga match.

Tonight’s visit to Camp Nou comes ahead of their second friendly game against Gimnastic de Tarragina set for tomorrow, Monday as part of their ten- day tour and trainings in Spain.

The 32 boys and girls left Nairobi last week and have been conducting their football trainings at Futbol Salou grounds located in Cambrils under the watchful eyes La Liga certified coaches; Ismael Rodriguez, Jose Ruiz, Luis Vincente Mateo and Oliver Dodd who is the La Liga representative to Kenya.

Miriam Lutomia, an All-Star player who turns out for Barcelona Ladies of Laikipia said ahead of the visist: “I am so thankful and glad for all these lifetime opportunities. I never imagined that one day I will set my foot in Camp Nou and see Iniesta Play. I am going back home motivated with more skills and stories to share with my team mates.”

The team will tomorrow play their second friendly match against Gimnastic de Tarragona which plays in the second division of the Spanish La Liga tournament before resuming their daily trainings.

“The boys and girls have been going through a lot of key learnings since arrivals which are truly transformational. This is what we are passionate about as a company. They still have more days left and we hope they will utilize them to learn as much. We continue to wish them the very best and hope they take the lesssons back home and share with their colleagues,” said Sylvia Mulinge, Chief Customer Officer, Safaricom.
