Chipu to play Prescott Cup select team

Kenya U20 will on Saturday have a friendly match against a Prescott Select side as part of their preparation for the World Rugby U20 Trophy set for July in Brazil.

The African Under 20 Champions have been in session for the last two months in preparation for the task ahead.

During the Simbas Trials on 1st June, Chipu featured in two matches against the senior side to gauge their performance.

The match will be used to test Chipu’s match fitness one month away from the U20 Trophy Championship in Brazil.

According to head coach Paul Odera, who handles both Chipu and Kenya Simbas, the match will also be used to access the new players who have joined the camp ahead of the final squad naming.

“There are new players in our squad and this match will be a good test to access them if they fit to play in the international level and test the teams match fitness.”

Chipu is in Pool A of the U20 Trophy Tournament alongside Japan, Uruguay and Canada.

Odera outlined that Canada will be the biggest threat in their pool.

“Canada is our biggest threat we have in our pool having whitewashed USA in the qualifiers and their way of play is more unique.”

The match will kick off at 1:00 pm at the RFUEA Grounds.
