Cinema pip Bundes, sail to Koth Biro final

Cinema FC piped Bundes FC 4-2 in post-match penalties to slide into the finals of the annual Kothbiro football tournament. Cinema converted four shots while Bundes missed two after a barren draw in regulation time.

Eric Ogwade was the star of the show for Cinema as he successfully blocked two shots. The agile keeper also known as De Gea previously turned out for Beirut FC and he was crowned the best goalkeeper in the 2016 edition.

Cinema converted all their four takes through Lennox Ogutu, Kevin Ndiwa, Alphayo Omollo and Brian Odhiambo while Bundes scored through Joseph Masinde and Bill Okumu as Godfrey Kimani and Dimaria Sibomana shots were saved.

The hugely satisfactory match started smoothly with local pundits predicting a win for Bundes, but on the pitch it was a delicately balanced affair.

In the 60th minute, Bundes threatened to open their account but Godfrey Kimani’s thunderbolt went just wide.

Fifteen minutes later, Cinema’s Kevin Ndiwa made an attempt with a dipping volley from 20 yards out but the vigilant Bundes keeper ably dealt with it.

Cinema will face Githurai United in the grand finale on January 5, 2019 not only for this season’s honours. With the changes in the league calendar, the Annual Kothbiro football tournament will from 2019 be played during the leagues off-season –  June-July.

At the same venue, Pumwani Veterans beat A1000 Street 3-2 to set a date for the finals curtain raiser against Kothbiro All Stars. Pumwani Veterans included Mohamud Abbas, Reginald Asibwa, Seif Mutie, Charles Omondi Korea, and Dixon Doyo amongst others.
