Cisse Appointed Senegal coach

Cisse takes over from Alan Giresse who left the team after the recent Nations Cup following their group stage exit.

The 38-year-old has had a spell as Senegal assistant coach and has been part of the coaching team for the 2022 Olympics.

Cisse, who has 35 caps for Senegal including the 2002 World Cup in Japan and Korea, has signed a four-year contract to be reviewed after the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

The decorated midfielder began his football career at French side Lille in 1994 before moving to Sedan a year later and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 1998. He then played for Montpellier three years later then moved to England after the 2002 World Cup where he played for Birmingham City and Portsmouth until 2006 when he returned to Sedan.
