Citizen TVs Sports Journalists Feted at the Mohamed Amin Media Awards

Citizen TV sports editor Mike Okinyi, sports reporter Waihiga Mwaura and cameraman Jefitha Mwai (in absentia) were feted at the glamorous gala for the in-depth look at the doping menace amongst Kenyan athletes.

The awards, named after the legendary videographer and photographer, Mo Amin, was setup to celebrate the best of African TV content.

This was also accompanied by a training workshop for journalists from across the continent and beyond.

Poisoned Spikes, a four part series focused on doping in Kenya was broadcast in early March on Citizen TV.

The report was thereafter endorsed by the world anti doping agency director general David Howman and Athletics Kenya actually suspended one of the agents mentioned in the report.

The fight against doping is set to go a notch higher as Cherangany Member of Parliament Wesley Korir will soon introduce an anti-doping bill in parliament.
