FKF Premier League new boys Nairobi City Stars will use a one-game at a time approach as they aim to hit the ground running in the 2020/21 season.

The team made a sensational return to the Kenyan top tier after dominating the National Super League before the league was prematurely ended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Club chief executive officer Patrick Korir is confident the team will stage a decent start to life in the Premier League given the signings they have made.

“We understand we have been away from topflight football for four years so we will be very humble and focused at the same time.

“Our objective will be to play with our identity and style that enabled us to win the National Super League.

He insists the approach will keep their charges focused.

Club Coordinator Samson Otieno has echoed his sentiments adding the team is focused on having a good start.

“We plan to play in the league and play without pressure. If we put targets on our players, they will most likely not play well.

“Last season we were under immense pressure to win the NSL and qualify for KPL and we are grateful we managed to achieve those targets.

“This season we want to let the players play without pressure because we are focused on maintaining our Premier League status,” he added.

Otieno says the team has concluded its transfer activities and is solely focused on having a good pre-season ahead of next season.

“We are three weeks into our preseason schedule and the lads are doing well.

“We normally train from Monday to Friday and then play friendly matches on Saturdays.

“We are confident this preparation will help our players stay in shape.”

Simba wa Nairobi will get their season underway when they take on Nzoia United in their season opener before facing Zoo Kericho, Vihiga United, and Kakamega Homeboyz in their next three matches.
