CNaPs end Gors Champions League run

Kenyan champions Gor Mahia’s faint hopes of progression in the CAF Champions League were snuffed out on Saturday when they lost the second leg of their preliminary round encounter 1-0 away to CNaPs Sport in Madagascar.

The local champions atoned for losing to K’Ogalo at the same stage last season by completing a 3-1 victory on aggregate against Frank Nutall’s side that is still struggling for form this year having lost the home leg 2-1.

Malagasy midfielder, Martin ‘Njiva’ Rakotoharimalala scored the all important strike in the 28th minute in a clash played at the Stade Rabemananjara in Mahajanga.

Nutall once again started club captain, Jerim Onyango in goal ahead of Harambee Stars international Boniface Oluoch with midfielder Khalid Aucho and new signing striker Jacob Keli starting on the bench.

Also missing was  Collins Okoth who could not travel after failing to secure travel papers with Keli coming later in the second half for Ernest Wendo.

Early elimination from the continent’s biggest club showpiece leaves Gor with the task of mounting a title defence that looks shaky after drawing their two opening matches to Chemelil Sugar and Posta Rangers.
