Coach Kedogo to miss Eagle Wings weekend clashes

Eagle Wings will be without coach Everlyne Kedogo and a host of their players when they tackle Storms and Strathmore during their Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Women Premier Basketball League matches in Nairobi.

Player coach Kedogo said most her players are out of the capital for netball games and will herself be unavailable due to personal commitments although she hopes to return for Sunday’s action against Strathmore at USIU grounds.

A total of seven KBF matches will be played over the weekend with the 2016 champions and last year’s finalist Equity Bank set to face Western Delight on Saturday for their second match of the season in Mumias.

“I have very few players right now; most of my players are also netballersand we have netball being played this weekend outside Nairobi and since most of them represent the army it’s their work schedule,” she said.

Kedogo who will be away on Saturday on personal matters is hoping to be around on Sunday to be able to help her team as both player and coach.

The experienced, Kedogo says they didn’t do much recruitment whereby they only did one recruitment who will also be playing netball this weekend.

Eagle wings will also be missing three key players who were i the starting line up last season and this year they haven’t shown up yet due to family matters which is something that is uncontrollable by the coach.

Eagle Wings will be playing their third match after having mixture of results last weekend where they lost 38-19 to Zetech University before crushing out Footprints 54-44 in their second match.

Storms who will be playing their first match on Saturday against Eagle wings will face Footprints in their second match of the weekend on Sunday.

Speaking to citizen Digital, Equity Bank head coach David Maina has shown his confidence in the team saying that they are in good moods going to Mumias.

“We are trying to work on the new team especially after recruiting two players that’s it Brenda Ngaira and Rita Anyango who are still trying to fit in the team and i believe after three to four games we will be back to our normal form. He added.”

Equity will continue to miss one of their key player  Bellinda Akoth who has been out for two month now due to illness and they also lost one of their key player thats Mercy Wanyama who moved to Storms.
