Coach Manoah lures quartet to Vihiga

Vihiga United FC has signed four new players to beef up their squad ahead of the second leg of the 2018 Kenyan Premier League season.

Vihiga recently dropped six players – Martin Imbalambala, Victor Ayugi, William Oricho, Dennis Ligalia, Jacob Atinda and Wycliffe Kabaji – and the new recruits are expected to bridge the gap.

Those signed include Sofapaka striker Morven Otinya who spent the first leg at Nzoia Sugar on a six- month loan spell.

Vihiga were interested in Otinya’s signature at the beginning of the season but Nzoia Sugar pulled a first one on them back then.

Defender Vitalis Akumu also joins the club from Sofapaka, on a two-year contract. Others are Victor Ademba from Sony Sugar and striker Philip Muchuma from Chemelil Sugar.

Akumu is said to have requested to leave the club so that he could get playing time and increase his chances of being considered for a national team call up.

Muchuma, on the other hand, is understood to have terminated his contract with Chemelil on a ‘mutual agreement’.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Vihiga United head coach Edward Manoah said that the signing of the quartert has been informed by the first leg struggles.

“Most of my players did not perform that well as expected due to inexperience and most of them were playing the league for the first time but I appreciate them for the hard work they’ve shown,” Manoah said.

Manoah hopes the new signings will make an impact at the club.  Vihiga have 19 points out of the 17 games they played so far.
