Coach Nyangweso: We hope to end the season on a high

Ulinzi Stars head coach Benjamin Nyangweso has urged his team to kill off matches to avoid the tension of defending narrow leads during the league matches.

Ulinzi defeated the defending champions Gor Mahia 1-0 on Monday and the tactician admits they could have scored more goals had they taken their chances to avoid nervy moments in the game.

“We must learn to kill off games in the remaining matches… a narrow lead can’t be trusted especially when you are playing some big teams and other stubborn ones in the league. We could have scored more goals to avoid the tense moments during the game especially when we are attacked,” said Nyangweso

The tactician was also impressed by this team’s defending skills insisting they are improving game by game and soon they will be at their best.

“I am impressed on how our defence has improved in the recent games… we are going back to our best when the season started and I hope we will keep on improving in the remaining games and finish in a better position come,” stated Nyagweso

Tenth on the log with 37 points from 26 games, the soldiers will next face struggling  Vihiga united on Saturday then have a date with the Bidco United before facing AFC Leopards and Nyagweso has called for consistency in the remaining matches.

“The next fixtures are very tricky for us. I am hoping we will maintain consistency in winning so that we can end the season on a high. We will take one game at a time and improve in our areas of weakness.”
