Coach Olago hails KCBs fantastic qualities in ruthless win

KCB retained their Kenya Cup top spot as when they crushed bottom table side Mean Machine 70-0 as champions Kabras Sugar saw their ubeaten streak brought to an end by Top Fry Nakuru courtesy of an inspired performance from scrum half, Geoff Ominde.

Blak Blad completed the season’s double over Strathmore Leos with a 23-7 win while Mwamba beat Western Bulls 26-13 at the Bull Ring in Kakamega.

At the Impala Club, Menengai Cream Homeboyz handed Resolution Impala a 41-13 hiding while Kenya Harlequins came from behind to win 38-22 against Nondescripts.

The win on Saturday took KCB’s points tally for the season to 37 points with their match day nine triumph winning them praise from Head Coach Curtis Olago.

“The team has fantastic qualities especially the control and ball possession we will keep on improving this season, Kenya Cup is within our reach”, said Olago.

Collins Wanjala gave the KCB an early try with Darwin Mukidza adding another one followed by penalty try in the first half to make in 19-0 for the Bankers. Martin Owila had a brace while Nick Ongeri added another try before the end of the first half.

The ever inspirational Mukidza stated off the second half with a try followed by another one from Michael Wanjala making it 39-0 for the Bankers. Few Minutes later Mukidza added another try and a conversion while Stafford Abeka made another a try as Felix Ojoo and George Asin finished made it 70-0 for KCB.

New signing Shaban Ahmed was also a force to reckon with making two tries in his first official game for the Bankers.

“I must say the boys enjoyed themselves out there and that’s the most important thing in a rugby game; it’s always about enjoying the game. I’m always proud of my boys because they execute as planned but for now it’s about preparing adequately for our next match.

“We were a bit complacent in the first half but we picked it up. We’ve been working very hard during our training and that’s been replicated on the pitch. The trick is to always make our trainings harder than the game,” Olago added.
