Coach Ouma backs Shilwatso to shine in Spain

Harambee starlets head coach David Ouma has backed the attacking midfielder Cynthia Shilwatso to shine in Spain after she agreed a three-year deal with the Spain giants Logrono early this month.

Ouma said the former Vihiga Queens player has the drive and discipline to succeed professionally, and cited the growing number of Kenyan players moving to Europe as an endorsement of women’s football in the country.

“These players are coming from an amateur league and thriving in competitive leagues abroad. It’s a good moment for our women and as a coach I’m proud because it means more opportunities for the rest,” Ouma said.

In her farewell message, Shilwatso applauded her coaches including Ouma for helping her achieve what she said was ‘always my dream’.

Cynthia Shilwatso and Elizabeth Kachungwa are the latest players to join a chain of Harambee Starlets’ players who have secured greater deals out of the country. Others include Essie Akida ,Corazine Aquino, Annedy Kundu, Ruth Ingosi, Christine Wafula, Mary Kinuthia among others .
