Coach Owuor expects more from Morans in Tanzania clash

Kenya’s men basketball team head coach Cliff Owuor expects nothing but a win when his side comes up against neighbouring Tanzania in the Afrobasket Championship qualifiers tonight.

The Morans entertain the Tanzanians in their second match from 6pm this evening. They crushed Eritrea 112-64 in their first game yesterday.

“We will win, we will ask God to deliver us but we ae prepared for Tanzania,” he said after the victory against Eritrea.

The competition is already serving new faces and Owuor notes that they have an idea of how the Tanzanians will face them having locked horns with them in the recent past.

“Tanzania is not as new as Eritrea; at least we have a clue on what they can do. We know some of their great players therefore it will be a little bit easier preparing for them. We didn’t know Eritrea at all so they were bound to disturb us,” he explained.

Owuor noted that there is still room for improvements with each match serving different opponents.

“We have room for adjustment and we have time to make changes but we are going to work on that as we approach each and every game,” he said, adding that “Many host nations have crumbled under the pressure of hosting any major sporting event.”

Owuor has however asked his boys to soak in the pressure that comes with the fans expectations.

“…we’ve got to embrace it, and it is our duty to take that pressure and carry it with us. It is something that we have talked about as a team and I’m sure we’ve got what it takes to deliver.”
