Coach Simiyu backs Shujaa to impress in Hamilton

The national rugby sevens head coach Innocent ‘Namcos’ Simiyu is optimistic his side will give an outstanding performance in the fourth leg of World Rugby Sevens Series in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Shujaa who are in Pool D begin their Hamilton tour with a clash against Samoa at 1.00am before facing Canada at 4.26am. They will round then off their pool matches against USA who are now under the stewardship of former coach Mike Friday at 8.22am.

Speaking to the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) website, Simiyu said they have already done their home work and are in good shape to meet their ‘targets’.

“We have a tough pool but I trust the players will play with pride and impress us all. Our key focus is to meet our performance targets especially in attack. Hopefully we will get the results we want,” Simiyu said.

Simiyu will be aiming to improve on their seventh place finish in their last outing at the Sydney sevens which enabled them to climb into ninth place with 23 points.

The Hamilton Sevens kicks off on Saturday February 3, 2018.
