Coast Stima FC launch online funds drive targeting supporters in Europe

National Super League side Coast Stima FC have launched an online funds drive for the team’s expenditure ahead of next season.

According to Stima Chairman David Opiyo, the drive is only targeting the team supporters based in Europe as they are yet to launch one for Kenyan fans.

“Our friends in Europe asked us to launch the drive so that they can help to raise funds for our team,” explained Opiyo.

The Mombasa based side lost their sponsorship after KPLC withdrew all its sponsorship. They are also finalizing on a new sponsorship which will be unveiled before the league resumes.

“The process for a new sponsor which is not a Kenyan firm is almost complete and we will officially announce after we have signed the deal,” he said.

At the same time Opiyo insists they will retain their team name which was changed to accommodate their sponsor.

The team was earlier known as Coast United before KPLC came on board to sponsor them hence changing the name to Coast Stima.

Nairobi Stima, another team who were also sponsored by KPLC have since terminated the contracts of all their players.
