Competitive local league key to national team, says Musa

Former Kenya national football team captain Musa Otieno has said the country’s premier league must grow stronger to improve the quality of the national team set-up.

“I just want to wish all the teams all the best and all stake holders should make sure they put all their energy and resources because our national team wellbeing depends on the clubs and its competition. If the league is strong then automatically it trickles to the national team.” Said Musa.

The former AFC Leopards and Tusker FC player said it was difficult to pick a team that can go on to win the league this early.

“The league has had its hiccups before and after kick off but this time around it has a sponsor and the action on the field has been top notch. The team that will be more technical with well planned match preps can take the cup. For now I cant say which team it will be because squads have changed after the transfer window and the good thing is to see the players back playing.” Added the former captain.

KCB are on top of the table after two rounds with maximum points together with Leopards who are second, behind KCB on goal difference.

Kariobangi sharks , Kakamega Homeboyz and Bandari are third to fifth respectively all on four points with Sofapaka, Nairobi City Stars and Wazito on three points each.

City Stars will host Bandari FC on Friday.
