Confed Cup: Breakdown on suspended Gor players

Gor Mahia FC head coach Hassan Oktay will have a thinned squad from which to choose his line-up when they host RS Berkane in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals clash in Nairobi on April 7.

Suspensions on key players has left Oktay with a selection conundrum at his hands as the Turk bids to lead Gor past the Moroccan side into the semi-finals.

Below is a summary of the decisions made by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) made on the players’ suspension.

N = Receiving two cautions during the same match

  1. Frederick Odhiambo is available for selection in our match against Berkane

OFFENCE A – Cleared

  1. Haron Shakava is out of the first leg

OFFENCE A – For having received two cautions in two different matches in the frame of this competition, Shakava is automatically suspended for his next match – versus Berkane.

  1. Shafik Batambuze to miss the two legs

OFFENCE N – Batambuze received two cautions in two different matches in and he was suspended for match 149. Now, the player received two cautions during the same match and he was expelled, therefore he is automatically suspended for his next two matches.

  1. Jacques Tuyisenge to miss two legs

OFFENCE D – For having received two cautions in two different matches in the frame of this competition, preceded by two cautions in two other different matches, Tuyisenge has committed a repeated infringement and he is automatically suspended for his next 2 matches – versus Berkane and the return leg.

  1. Ernest Wendo is out of the two legs plus first leg of semis or first match of next edition

OFFENCE H – Wendo received two cautions in two different matches and he was suspended for another match previously. Now, the player was expelled for serious foul play, therefore, he committed a repeated infringement and is automatically suspended for his next three (3) official matches.
