Confident KU out to compound TUK’s misery in Hockey derby clash

Kenyatta University hockey team head coach Dominic Mutwol anticipates a tough encounter when they play bottom placed Technical University of Kenya (TUK) in a Kenya Hockey Union Premier League match on Wednesday at City Park.

Mutwol said that they are well prepared for the derby. Kenyatta won the first leg of the varsities derby and are aiming to complete a season double.

“We are well prepared for the match and we know we have to get the three points,” he said.

Mutwol is adamant that their 5-0 defeat to ninth placed Chaise Sailors over the weekend will not affect their performance.

“Chaise Sailors are superior to us and the results are acceptable but TUK have never mauled us. They should expect a tough match and more goals in the net, “Mutwol said.

KU who lost to Sailors on Sunday October are currently in position 11 with 17 points having played 18 matches.

The Varsity side have scored 15 goals, conceded 38, and maintained three clean sheets this season.

At the same time, Simiyu Nyaranga, coach of bottom placed Technical University of Kenya (TUK) believes that his boys will perform to their best irrespective of the pressure exerted by the ongoing exams.

“The students are doing exams which make it difficult for the training. I don’t want to promise good results but I believe they will play according to the tactics,” he said.

TUK who are bottom placed with a paltry five points have been on a losing streak and will be gunning to collect the three points  to aid their  fight to safety.
