Congo Boys dare Gor for FKF Cup clash

Congo Boys FC head coach Ali Breik ‘Katolila’ has thrown down the gauntlet and dared giants Gor Mahia to battle on Sunday in their round of 64 FKF Cup match.

The national division one side will host Gor at Mbaraki Grounds in Mombasa after the match was postponed last month due to Gor’s commitment in the CAF Confederation Cup against Napsa Stars of Zambia.

Breik, a former Harambee Stars defender, has promised his side will put up a brave show.

“We don’t fear them (Gor Mahia) we just respect them but suprises happen in football and we hope to defeat them,” the confident speaking Breik told Citizen digital.

“The morale in our camp is high and everyone is looking forward to the big match. We have young and skillful players that are itching to make a mark,” he said.

Earlier on the Congo boys FC management had wrote to the Football Kenya Federation asking them to play the match at their Serani sports ground and not Mbaraki as stated.

Through their patron Mohammed Madigi they had vowed to withdrew from the tourney if they will be forced to play the match at Mbaraki instead of Serani.

“Our pitch hosts National Super League matches and division one why are we taken to Mbaraki when we can have it here (Serani).”

The winner of the one-legged cup tie will host CUSCO in the round of 32 match slated for 17th April.
