Construction works begin for Sh350m stadium in Kisumu

Construction works have begun for the Sh350 million Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium at Mamboleo ASK Grounds with completion expected within six months.

Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o presided over the groundbreaking ceremony held today, paving way for the contractor to start the project directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The new stadium will have a main playing field of international standards, eight lanes running track, spectators’ stands all-round the stadium, VIP pavilion and a lounge.

Other facilities will include changing rooms, media center, a boardroom, modern ablution block and ample parking.

Governor Nyong’o said the ASK ground has been lying idle and the construction of the stadium has come at a time the county was working to improve sporting activities as part of his legacy.
