Court lifts Nyamweyas 10-year suspension from football

The High Court has temporarily suspended the decision by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to bar the national governing body’s former president Sam Nyamweya from all football affairs for 10 years.

Justice Chacha Mwita overturned the decision after FKF failed to respond to Nyamweya’s application to have his suspension nullified.

FKF told the court they were not ready to proceed with the application by Nyamweya and sought to pursue the main petition.

The former FKF boss had moved to court challenging his suspension after he was accused for breaching the federation’s constitution by taking football matters to court.

He argued the federation’s move was driven by malice and meant to satisfy individual interest.

The former FKF boss further told the court that he is being targeted for having exercised his constitutional rights to file a case against his successor Nick Mwendwa which is pending before court.

NICK Mwendwa and Robert Muthoni have been sued in the case as representatives of FKF.

The matter was fixed for hearing on July 31.
