Custodian Saruni stars as Ulinzi fend off Wazito attack, Sharks maul Paka

Goalkeeper James Saruni put in a memorable shift as Ulinzi Stars held Wazito FC in a barren draw during Saturday’s FKF Premier League match at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

It was a disappointing result for Wazito who have won just one of their four matches this season but the point was enough to move them three places up into fifth on the FKF-PL standings pending Sunday’s matches.

In Wundanyi, Kariobangi Sharks handed Sofapaka FC their third defeat of the season with a 2-1 comeback victory thanks to a brace from Eric Kapaito.

Ellie Asieche had converted an early penalty to put the hosts 1-0 up after he had been brought down inside the area before goals either half from Kapaito lifted Sharks to their second win of the season.

Elsewhere at the Sudi Stadium, Posta Rangers pinched a point from a 1-1 draw with Nzoia Sugar with Marcelo and Joseph Mbugi on the scoresheets.

In a game of few chances at Kasarani, Wazito have found an opening inside eight minutes when a Kevin Kimani picked out Bernard Ochieng inside the area but he could not apply the right direction on his headed effort which flew just wide.

Goalkeeper Fredrick Onyango did well deny Enosh Ochieng at the half hour mark, beating away the attacker’s close range.

Wazito thought they had found the breakthrough late on when Whyvonne Isuza raced through on goal but Saruni made a terrific goal-line clearance to deny the midfielder.
