Delegates overwhelmingly adopt new FKF constitution
Delegates at the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) fifth Annual General Meeting (AGM) have adopted a new constitution, sealing a two-year term limit for the president of the federation and members of the National Executive Council.
This, in essence, puts to rest the initial clamour by the federation to have the term limit extended to three. And perhaps as result of having read the public mood correctly, Mwendwa let the cat out of the bag early on when he said:”No three terms for FKF president and NEC members, we have consulted and the terms remain two.”
And on the floor, by way of standing, 69 delegates voted in favor of the new document, against one at the English Point Marina, Mombasa on Saturday.
However, the terms, each of four years, will first be practiced in 2020 during the next elections, albeit coming into effect 60 days from today.
Thus, the current regime is not affected immediately by the new rule book, and can contest for two more terms.
