Destructive Dogo cant wait to go as Starlets collide with Malawi

Harambee Starlets sensational striker Mwanahalima “Dogo” Adam is optimistic that they will defeat Malawi when the two sides cross swords this afternoon in an Olympic qualifier in Blantyre, Malawi.

Dogo who scored a brace a fortnight ago in an international friendly match against Ethiopia at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos in which the Kenyan side emerged victorious 3-2 believes that the intensive training they have had so far and the confidence will make them sail through.

“Personally as the lead striker I am very ready to score goals; I will not waste any chance which will come my way. As a team in general we are ready, we had a lot of training and I have seen confidence in the entire team which we lacked when we played Ethiopia two weeks ago.”

“I urge Kenyans to pray for us so that we return back home with three points. It has been my dream to play in Olympics and I will be very happy if it comes to pass,” added Mwanahalima who also plays for Thika Queens in the Kenyan Women Premier League.

On his part, head coach David Ouma is satisfied by the preparations they have had so far stating that they have gone to Blantyre for no other reason other than snatching the three points.

“In our friendly match against Ethiopia I saw a lot of blunders, maybe it’s because they are new in the team and many of them have not gelled well.

“I have assessed them and I can say they have confidence going to the match. I have sharpened all departments and I believe at the end of the match we will have all the bragging rights.”

We played Malawi in a qualifier match sometimes back and I understand they love attacking football. I will display the same but what I urge my players is to look for early goals because it will help us reduce more pressure going to the second half. They need to continue believing in themselves and proving that earning a call up to the national team was not in vain but total hard work plus talent,” dded Ouma.

The Kenyan team got a bye in the first round of the qualifiers and will have either Gabon or Ghana in the third round should they sail past the Malawians.

Meanwhile, the second leg match will be played behind closed doors at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos following the directive by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) as the match venue is not CAF approved.

According to FKF, the team could not secure the Kasarani Stadium – the only CAF approved facility in Kenya as it’s already booked for a Kenya Police event.
