Determined and hungry, Leopards now aim claws on Wazito

AFC Leopards caretaker coach Dennis Kitambi has warned his boys not to underrate opponents Wazito FC when they cross swords this afternoon in a Kenyan Premier League fixture at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos from 2 pm.

Kitambi has acknowledged that Wazito FC will come into the game fully armed after losing 7-1 to Leopards in the GOtv fixture last year.

The Tanzanian is however optimistic that Ingwe will impress this afternoon to extend their winning streak to three since the suspension of beleaguered head coach Robert Matano two weeks ago.

In the absence of the rabble- rousing Matano, Ingwe have chalked up two wins – a 2-0 win over Sony Sugar and a  4-3 victory over Mathare United last weekend and will be aiming to build on this momentum.

4-3-3

Ahead of the clash, Kitambi has said that he is going to stick to the 4-3-3 formation that has worked in his team’s favour in the last two matches.

“My players are stirred by the two consecutive wins and are eager to play Wazito, hoping to harvest all the three points,” he said. “I am hopeful of a win…”

With the players granted the freedom to express themselves, the big cats have been dangerous with free-flowing football moreso in the final third and Kitambi hopes to harness on this new found bond amongst his charges.

He said: “I have given my players freedom and I want them to play football in a way they like.”

Victory over Wazito will haul Ingwe to the second spot on the log with 13 points though they are certain to face a  litmus test from Frank Ouna’s Wazito.

Wazito sit at position 14 after a win, two draws and two losses and, understandably, are under immense pressure to chalk up a win

Defeat for Wazito will extend their winless run to five since winning their first game, a1-0  win over Sony Sugar at Camp Toyoyo on February 3.
