Division One sides ready for FKF Women Cup

Women Division One sides have promised to give their Premier Leagues counterparts a run for their money and insisted they will not be pushovers when the opening round of inaugural FKF Women Cup gets underway over the weekend.

According to MTG coach Fathime Tibu, they have a good squad and are ready to challenge any opponent in the maiden cup tournament for women’s football in the country.

“We have sat down and studied their game thus we are very ready to battle against them coming Saturday,” Tibu said.

Her sentiments were echoed by his Mombasa Olympic Queens counterpart Joseph Oyoo who mentioned representing Kenya in the continental as their target which will make them work extra hard.

Oyoo who have won a national secondary school title with St.Johns Kaloleni Girls school has at the same time applauded Football Kenya Federation for introducing the tourney terming it as a good way to market ladies talents.

“Girls will be playing targeting international level which is good to our teams and ofcourse a good initiative from the federation,” explained Oyoo.

In-form Ulinzi Starlets will be up against MTG in Kilifi as Mombasa Olympic Queens entertain Zetech Sparks at Ziwani ground in Mombasa.

In another round one fixture, Bomet Starlets will be out to face Oserian Ladies, Wadadia against Gusii Starlets, Makolanders versus Soccer Sisters and Eldoret Falcons closing the programme against Nyuki Starlets.
