Dominion reign in Pipeline Volleyball Open Tournament

Dominion Volleyball Club are the winners of the Kenya Pipeline Volleyball Open Tournament after trouncing hosts Kisumu Stars 3-0, in the final staged at the Kisumu’s Kenyatta Sports Ground on Sunday.

Dominion controlled the proceedings from the start to register a 25-16 win in the first set, before completing the rout in second and third stanzas with 25-12 and 25-22 respectively.

The champions were in top form from the preliminaries of the two days event, running over several teams on their way to semi finals where they sunk Homa Bay 3-0 (25-23, 25-17 and 27-25).

In the second semi final, Kisumu Stars caged Kisumu Prison 3-0 (25-16, 25-12 and 25-22) to set a date with Dominion in the finals.

Homa Bay silenced Kisumu Prison 3-0 (25-20, 25-22 and 25-20) to in the third place playoff.

Migori Club won the women category, with a resounding 3-0 win over Polytechnic (25-23, 25-17 and 25-19) in the finals.

Dominion had walloped Kakamega Prison’s 3-0 in a one-sided encounter during quarterfinals with scores of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-12.

Kisumu Stars on the other hand had robbed Central Bank with a similar score, (25-10, 25-11, and 25-12) to qualify for the last four.

Kisumu Prison defeated Mariwa Club 3-0 silencing them 25-17, 25-19 and 25-18 to win the second quarterfinal and qualify for the Semis.

A total of 24 teams (18 Men and 6 Women) took part in the event with Ngere High school winning the junior category, beating Oriwo High from Homa Bay by three unanswered sets.
