Football lovers were on Monday afternoon served with sumptuous dish of football laced with its fair share of drama in a National Super League tie at Nairobi’s Camp Toyoyo grounds as Administration Police and Nairobi Stima shared the spoils in an exhilarating 3-3 draw.
The contest gave fans more than they had bargained for being a mid-week clash, yielding six goals to emerge a contender ‘match of the season’ so far.
The game which saw less action from the AP went into the break with Nairobi Stima deservedly leading 1-0 courtesy of a Victor Ochan strike.
The second half saw a rejuvenated AP side equalize through Asumwa Etemesi, a few seconds after the restart, after a wonderful play down the left flank.
The hosts saw a penalty appeal rejected in the 52nd minute by the referee after their player went down after a tackle in the box.
A few seconds later, Stima earned a free kick at the edge of the penalty box under similar circumstances but AP goalkeeper Mike Kioko parried the resulting shot over the bar resulting into a series of corners that went unconverted.
Stima sought to restore their lead and their efforts were rewarded in the 56th minute after AP succumbed to a horrible own goal, moments after missing a glorious opportunity to take the lead.
The hosts fought back to draw level in the 60th minute through Mzee Abbas but Joseph Shikokoti restored the visitors lead 18 minutes later after heading in a corner.
The goal was however hotly contested as AP argued that the ball had gotten in through the sides net, as the net supposedly had a whole on its sides.
Play resumed a few minutes later with both sides firing to get the next goal.
It was AP however who got lucky as Abdul Karrim bagged a last gasp leveler in stoppage time to end it all square.
The outcome left Stima at fourth place with 17 points from 9 games while Administration Police jumped to position seven on 14 points.
