Draxler happy to play alongside Ozil

Germany wide man Julian Draxler says he would be happy to play alongside Mesut Ozil to accomodate the Arsenal maestro at Euro 2016.

A hamstring injury in April looked to have scuppered the Wolfsburg star’s hopes of playing in the Euros, but the 22-year-old returned in time for the end of the season.

He now looks set to start in the world champions’ opening Group C match against the Ukraine on Sunday.

“I’m a huge fan of Mesut’s style of playing. I am impressed by his technique, by his overall style on the pitch. I am happy that I have the possibility to play next to him. We both are flexible players. I will play wherever I am needed. What kind of advantages I have, you would have to ask Thomas Schneider.

“At such a big tournament the coach doesn’t have to say much to motivate the team. We are highly motivated anyway. We are especially looking forward to the first game as always. It kind of gives you an idea how the rest of the tournament might go. I think Jogi Loew is always very concentrated and doesn’t need to motivate us additionally,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Germany forward Andre Schurrle has heaped praise on head coach Joachim Loew’s for his clear and relaxed management style.

“First of all we are all looking forward that the tournament finally starts. The whole preparation you work for that. I think we are prepared very well, we had some good weeks and also worked well the past days here in France. We are prepared well and are looking forward to the game on Sunday.

“Yeah, regarding the women. There no detailed info how this will be handled here, but I think in the past tournaments we always had a good solution so that the wives could be with us between game days. But here the most important should be football and that will be the case. So we’ll see.”
