EA Safari Classic & Sarova Hotels boss JS Vohra dies in road crash

Tragedy struck the East African Safari Classic Rally on Friday after the Chairman of the grueling rally odyssey, Jaideep Singh (JS) Vohra died after an accident while on official duty a few kilometers from Namanga.

Singh who was the Managing Director of the Sarova Hotels and Resorts passed away while undergoing treatment after he had been airlifted to Nairobi for medical attention.

The Clerk of the Course, Richard Leeke eulogized the rally aficionado in a statement adding the rally will continue ‘in his memory’.

“We believe he would want the East African Safari Classic Rally to continue and we as organizers believe the 2017 event should continue in his memory,” Leeke said.

Racing was united in shock and sympathy as organisers halted Day 2 action soon after receiving news of the tragic incident.

Vohra, who was the immediate Kenya Motor Sport Federation (KMSF) chairman was with other rally members who survived the accident.
