Echesa hands over the mantle to Amina in low key event
The immediate former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa on Tuesday quietly handed over the Ministry Of Sports, Culture and Heritage to incoming Amina Mohamed at a low key event, devoid of spark and colour at the Ministry’s headquarters at Kencom House in Nairobi.
During the brief event, Echesa hailed President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing him to the position, wishing his successor well.
At the handover ceremony of @moscakenya to the incoming Cabinet Secretary Amb.Amina Mohamed.I once again Thank H.E @UKenyatta &H.E@WilliamsRuto for considering me amongst 50 million Kenyans to serve my country in the capacity of a CS.I wish Amb Amina the best in her new role. pic.twitter.com/vvt3sH4Sid

Incoming Amina has her in-tray full with Harambee Stars forthcoming African Cup of Nations finals , World Cross Country Championship set for Denmark, World Championship(Qatar) and All African Games lined up for Morocco – major assignments for Kenyan teams and all eyes will be on her to see how best she manages the situations.
Also, the state of the sports infrastructure in the country is appalling with refurbishment works on the country’s stadi having stalled.
Echesa was sacked by President Kenyatta in a mini cabinet reshuffle last week Friday, ending his short-lived one-year stint at the helm of the ministry.
