Egoji, Eregi to defend Kenya Teachers Colleges titles

Egoji and Eregi will be defending their men and women football titles respectively when they play in the finals during 38th annual Kenya Teachers Colleges ball games championship in Meru.

Egoji will be defending their crown against Kaimosi as they made it to the finals after beating Chesta 1-0, and Kaimosi showcasing their talent to silence Migori 3-1.

At Meru TTC grounds, Abdijabar Aden earned Egoji their only goal in the 60th minute from inside the box.

This is after hitting hard a cross from Galgalo Somo who had dribbled past two Chesta mid fielders.

Egoji had secured a place to the semis after thrashing Machakos 4-1 in a match played at Meru school grounds, as Chesta were runners up after losing 2-0 to Kaimosi.

During the tight match that ended with no score at half time, Lang’at of sustained right eye injury after a header from Abdi of Egoji.

Kipchumba Kelvin Egoji captain expressed joy after the win, saying that they are confident that they will retain the title.

“The game was tough. Chesta had fast players who played from defense to striking. But we had good strikers who helped us secure the win. I pray that despite the injuries, we will win the match” he said.

Their coach Josek Kirimi said that they are working on mistakes that they made during the match to ensure they remain the best.

“We believe if we work on few things that didnt work, we will still be crowned champions. We have some injuries as our opponents played a rough game, but we believe those injured will have recovered” said the coach.

He noted that during the match, there were a number of high boot fowls that referees need to look at.

In soccer women, Eregi and Mosoriot will face off each other at the finals.

In Eregi vs Kamwenja, Irene Achieng and Quinta Ongondo scored for Eregi to gain entry to finals.

Separately, Morsoriot won beat Kamwenja 1-0 to land top most competition that could see them crowned as queens of the game.

The tough BASKETBALL semi-final for Men ended Kigari 91 Asumbi 75 with spectators terming it “mother of all matches”, as Tambach lost 41- 70 to Kaimosi.
