Eldoret Falcons out to seize top spot in WPL

Eldoret Falcons could rise to the summit of the Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League (WPL) with a win over Baringo Starlets when the two clash on Saturday.

The Falcons have 14 points after Round Seven, placing them fourth on the standings and are set to unseat league leaders Vihiga Queens who will be out of action for a third straight week.

Vihiga, including Thika Queens and Spedag requested and were granted exemption from taking part of the WPL since their key players are out on international duty with the Harambee Starlets.

Falcons head coach Joshua Ariko said is optimistic his side will soar to the top.

“We are very well prepared and every player in my team is in good condition; no major injury worries. I still have to strengthen my striking force because we have been blunt in front of goal over the past few weeks,” Ariko said.

In other matches slated for Saturday, Trans Nzoia Falcons who are in 10th on the log position will square it out with Soccer Queens at the Kitale Showgrounds while Baringo Starlets tackle Soccer Queens at the University of Eldoret Grounds.
