Eldoret indoor volleyball arena in the offing

Following a successful hosting of the AMACO sponsored 13th edition of Paul Bitok international Volleyball tournament in Eldoret on May 25, 2019, the founder of the Paul Bitok Foundation, Paul Bitok is now in search of sponsors in order to construct a state-of-the-art indoor arena at the city.

A record 83 teams took part in the two-day event and attracted a huge number a fans, with two women’s volleyball teams from the USA being the crowd pullers.

“This year’s tournament was so successful; 83 teams -seven from outside the County of which two were from America. The big challenge was an indoor arena, because for the American sides, that was the first time they played on grass,” The Rwanda national team coach Bitok, told Citizen Digital on phone from his base in Kigali, Rwanda.

“Many teams from Europe and North Africa refused to came because of lack of an indoor arena. Now am working together with the county government of Uasin Gichu and my friends from abroad who are willing to help us; one day the arena will be up.”

The number of fans witnessed at the Eldoret National Polytechnic grounds during the event also serves as a motivation to the former national Captain.

“Eldoret is the city of champions and not only in athletics, so many young sports enthusiasts are doing very well in volleyball and a state-of-the-art arena would do very well to uplift their morale and standards.”

On his official Facebook page, the 49-year-Old ignited a debate on the name of the proposed arena ‘ELDORET ARENA OR PAUL BITOK ARENA in Eldoret City’ adding, it might take long time or short time but Uasin Gichu county, PAUL BITOK Foundation or sponsors will build Arena in the near future.
