Epoloto savours crowning moment as GSU, Pipeline seal titles

General Service Unit (GSU) head coach Moses Epoloto paid tribute to his men as they wore down Co-operative Bank of Kenya 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-23) in their last play-off match to win the men’s Kenya Volleyball Federation Premier League title.

GSU and swept through all their opponents at the three-day meet at the Makande Gymnasium in Mombasa and wasted no time dispatching the Bankers in Sunday’s decisive match to reclaim their crown after losing it to Kenya Prisons last year.

Kenya Pipeline meanwhile maintained their stranglehold of the corresponding women’s title, blowing away Kenya Prisons 3-0 in their last play-off match to seal their fourth title on the bounce.

“The competition was very intense and competitive, but my boys were up to the task to ensure we won back the title we lost to Kenya Prisons last year. I am proud of the whole team and it’s a sweet moment to savor,” Epoloto who also doubles as coach for the men’s national team team told Citizen Digital.

As his charges savoured the moment, the tactician set his sights at getting them ready for next year’s African Club Championships next year where Kenyan men have traditionally posted dismal results.

GSU topped the playoffs with 9 points, Kenya Prisons finished second with five points, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) came third with three points while Cooperative Bank finished last without a single win.
