Equity eye playoff success after stellar season
Kenya Women Basketball League defending champions Equity Bank are focusing on the playoffs after topping the regular league for the second season in a row with 43 points having lost only one match.
The Bankers only lost to Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in Mombasa and are scheduled to face Tangit Sparks in Game One of the quarter final playoffs series in a three game series.
Equity head coach David Maina is targeting to win all their games and eventually defend the title they won last season as the team head to playoffs this weekend.
The tactician believes to win all games which will make them play few in playoffs.
“As we had to playoffs we target to win all the games and play few; we believe and hope we are going to defend the title we won last season,” Maina said.
KPA who finished second will be facing Eagle Wings who finished seventh next week.
Strathmore who finished third will be meeting Storms who finished sixth as UON Dynamites will be facing Zetech University after finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
Storms head coach Abel Nson believes they have all it talks to go through this stage.
“We feel pretty confident enough. The season was tricky but we have a strong chance of going through to the semis since all we have to do is to contain Strathmore by stopping their runs and contain them well,” Nson said.
