Equity Ladies rout Dynamites to stay top

Equity Bank Ladies tightened their grip on the Kenya Basketball Federation top spot with a 57-35 rout of Dynamites on Saturday at the Nyayo Stadium Gymnasium in Nairobi.

Equity were held in a 12-12 draw during the opening quarter but the champions were simply unstoppable once they found their spark, pulling off a 13-3 second quarter victory before going 16-12 and 16-8 in the third and fourth periods.

Despite the victory, Equity head coach David Maina said he was not impressed by his players’ performance.

“We won the game but my players did not give me a good display. I guess they were focusing on the next match against Strathmore who are currently unbeaten but I surely did not like what I saw.

“Each game we win means we continue topping the league and that’s my focus now. I want to retain the cup and display a perfect game even though I did not like how they played today,” Maina said.

On the other hand, Dynamites coach Juma Kent was enthralled by how his players played today, he also assured that the team is slowly taking shape and they will get wins in the succeeding matches.

“Considering that we are new in the league and we were playing with the reigning champions and still managed to hold the in the first period shows we are growing, I am eyeing on winning the next matches,” said Kent

The bankers are set to play against Strathmore in the next match.
