Equity win, KPA bullish ahead of JKT test
Last year’s FIBA African Zone Five women first runners up Equity Bank had a fine start in their bid to win the regional title registering a 71-57 win against Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania as the championship enters day four today.

The bankers lost in the first quarter 13-18 before winning the rest of the quarters 20-10, 23-21, and 15-8.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Equity Bank head Coach David Maina said they are motivated by the win.
“It’s very important to win every other game. Being a round robin series we want to win all our games. Our offensive approach was very good,”he said.
Equity Bank will a rest day today before taking on APR of Rwanda tomorrow and coach Maina believes her team will continue with the winning momentum.
Meanwhile, after yesterday’s rest, women defending champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) return to the court today to tackle JKT of Tanzania while KPA men who lost yesterday 50-65 to Cobra of South Sudan will face JKT men.
KPA men coach Sammy Kiki decried the defeat.“Rebounding was poor; we had so many missed shots and turnovers. Our main shooter Odendo was fouled out in the third quarter,”he lamented.
And ahead of today’s match against JKT of Tanzania, Kiki has stressed the need of a win by at least 15 points to secure position three to avoid facing Ah-Ahly of Egypt in the quarter finals.
At the same time Strathmore Blades who lost their second match consecutively falling to 34-57 to Al-Ahly of Egypt yesterday will be face the resolve of Patriot of Rwanda.
