Ethiopia crush Starlets CECAFA dreams

Harambee Starlets’ dreams of CECAFA Women’s Championship glory were shattered following Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to Ethiopia at the Nyamirambo Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda.

Meselu Albera’s 30th minute strike was all Ethiopia needed to seal the win with the result ensuring Starlets slipped out of the title contention after a poor campaign.

It marked the second loss in three matches for the Kenyans who will now play Rwanda Rwanda on Friday in a dead rubber match before returning back to the country.

The David Ouma-coached side began their title quest with 1-0 loss to Uganda’s Crested Cranes before registering a 1-1 draw against the champs Tanzania last Sunday.

Going to the match, Coach David Ouma had effected one change in the starting lineup where Trans Nzoia Falcons’ Martha Amunyolete was summoned in place of Mercy Achieng who assisted  Esse Akida, Neddy Atieno, and Mwanahalima Adam in the striking department.

Vivian Nasaka, for the second time in a row partnered with Dorcas Shikobe, Elizabeth Ambogo and Lilian Adera in defense.
