Evergreen Wacu set to rejoin Seychellois outfit Anse

The  national women’s volleyball team setter Jane Wacu is on her way back to Seychelles after  agreeing a one-year- deal with her former club Anse Royale (ARSU); one of the top clubs in the island nation .

Confirming the developments to Citizen Digital, an elated Wacu said the only bit remaining is signing between the dotted lines. She is expected to complete the move by January.

“Yes, it’s true we have agreed on everything and what is remaining is to put down the signature on my terms with the club. I will be jetting out for my new assignment in December or January,” she said.

The former Tetu High School player will be rejoining the Seychelles side after donning the club’s shirt last year on a one- year- deal before returning to her current Kenya Volleyball Federation side, Kenya Prisons.

“It is always a good experience to play with Arsu and I am looking forward to wear the club’s shirt again,” added Wacu who is also a Senior Sergeant at  Kenya Prisons.

Apart from being a star player at club level, Wacu has had a stellar performance with the national team, Malkia Strikers, having earned her first call up to the national team in April 2006, nailing down a permanent slot in the team and was part of the Malkia squad that recently featured at the FIVB World Championship in Japan.

This is not the first time the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations volleyball championship best setter is landing a professional stint abroad. She has previously played in Europe with French side Chamelieres, and in 2008 and 2009,  featured in the Asian Cup in Dubai  and emerged the best setter in the tournament.

However, before flying out to Seychelles , the seasoned setter will be out to end a five-year title drought with Prisons  when the KVF play-offs serve off from November 29 to December 2 at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.

Wacu’s Prisons finished second on the KVF log, below defending champions and arch-rivals Kenya Pipeline who pose the biggest threat in the dreaded play-offs.
