Ex Gor coach Nuttall sinks into trouble in Ghana

Former Gor Mahia tactician Frank Nuttall has been fired by Ghana’s Hearts of Oak after he was allegedly found guilty of conducting the team’s transfers business behind the club’s back.

A leaked report of the three-member committee set up to look into the unethical behaviour revealed that Nuttall was paid US$ 50,000(approximately Sh 5milion) )and US$ 6,000 (approximately Sh 600,000) from the transfer of two unnamed players.

According to a Ghanaian publication, graphic.com, the committee’s findings linked the former Zamalek coach to the Scottish firm NM Football Consultancy, as collaborators for the transfer of the players.

Reports in the Ghanaian press also claim that the 20-time league champions are now demanding a whopping US$ 56,000(approximately Sh5.6million) from the Scot, an amount he allegedly pocketed from the ‘illegal’ transfer of some of their players.

Nuttall guided Gor Mahia to an unbeaten league run in 2015 after taking over from fellow countryman Bobby Williamson.

It’s also alleged that he advised some of the players to abandon their agents to sign for the firm owned by his fellow countryman Neil Murray.

Nuttall, who bagged the Kenyan Premier League Coach of the Year award in 2015, had been suspended by the club’s board after he was accused of advising players not to renew their contracts with the Ghanaian giants.

“Following the findings of the three-man committee, Nuttall has been found guilty hence the club’s decision to terminate his two-year contract he signed last season,” the club said in a quote carried by the Ghanaian press.

Last term, Nuttall led the club to a third-place finish in the Ghana Premier League; they also reached the FA Cup final but lost 3-1 to their rivals Asante Kotoko .
