Ex-Gor star Nondi eyes UEFA action as Georgian league restarts

Dila Gori’s Amos Nondi is upbeat his side can finish among the top three clubs in the Georgian premier league, and book a spot in the next season’s European competitions.

Nondi, a former Gor Mahia midfielder is ecstatic to be back in action again when the Georgian league resumes on Saturday, following a three-month break in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

“Everything is smoothly working as planned towards the league resumption on June 27. I have been personally training hard and looking forward to help my club secure either Champions League or Europa League ticket next season,” Nondi told Citizen Digital.

Nondi, 21, has been training on his own during the lockdown before joining his teammates just recently in preparation for the league resumption.

“I have been keeping fit in the house all through, and I would run in the club stadium because it’s very near my place of residence. A month ago we resumed team training, but we have converged in camp two weeks ago,” he noted.

On the restart protocols, Nondi revealed COVID-19 tests were conducted on all players and staff as one of the precautions being taken.

“All payers and staff in my club tested negative before we went to camp, but we still have another test before we resume the league. The plans are so elaborate and important to guarantee our safety,” he added.

With newly promoted FC Samtredia being next in the schedule against Gori, Nondi expects an exciting clash on Saturday.
