Ex-Harambee Stars boss Shedu discharged in India

Former Harambee Stars assistant coach Rishadi Shedu has been discharged from the Ahmedabad Hospital in India after completing his medication and is expected back in Kenya on Sunday or the day after.

While at the South Asian state, the veteran tactician had appointments with a kidney specialist, cardiologist, nephrologists, pulmonologist and a gastrointestinal surgeon who went through all his medical tests and reports.

The former Bandari FC, Ulinzi Stars and KCB FC official had gone for a leg operation on an injury he picked five years ago while in a training session after several surgeries done locally had been unsuccessful.

In the routine check-ups done before he was operated on, doctors found complications with his blood pressure, asthma and kidney and was immediately put on treatment.

The team of doctors said Shedu’s heart condition means he is not ready to go under the knife yet and as a result advised him to wait until Angioplasty had been done on him before undergoing the ankle operation in six months.

Coach Shedu was one of the star strikers of Harambee Stars squad of the first half of the ‘80s but his career suffered a blow r suffered a blow when he sustained a terrible injury.

He hung his boots in 1985 and took to coaching.

Last month a fundraising drive managed to achieve KSh1.1 million, slightly short of KSh1.8 million he had needed for his abroad treatment.
