Ex-Sofapaka man Avire pens deal with Egyptian side Tanta SC
Former Sofapaka ace John Avire has penned a deal with Egyptian second-tier side three weeks after going AWOL.
The Egyptian side confirmed the development with a post on its social media pages showing the promising striker in their blue and yellow colours while juggling a ball.
Avire sneaked out of the country some three weeks ago to negotiate a deal with the Egyptian outfit raising hue and cry from Sofapaka who accused Robert Muthomi, the long-serving FKF CEO OF player tapping after a letter he authored in his capacity as the federation official surfaced online requesting the Egyptian embassy in Nairobi to issue the player with a visa to travel to Cairo as a fan to watch some of the Africa Cup of Nation matches.
This led to a storm with stakeholders calling for the resignation of Muthomi who stepped aside to pave way for investigations.
Established on June 5, 1926, Tanta SC is a city club based in Tanta town and competes in the Egyptian second division.
