The official new structure of AFC Leopards technical bench will be announced on Tuesday after a consultative meeting by the club’s top management on Monday evening.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, General Secretary Oscar Igaida said the meeting will pick two or three staff to beef up the existing technical bench of AFC Leopards.
“The National Executive Committee (NEC) has found it wise to strengthen the current technical bench so we are going to let our fans and the general public know the step we have taken tomorrow (Tuesday).
Leopards announced former player Tom Juma as the interim head coach after the exit of Stewart Hall, who left the club towards the season break in May.
Igaidia says the current technical bench is very thin, and needs experienced tacticians who understand local football better.
His then assistant Dennis Kitambi could deputise Juma in the new set to be announced.
Meanwhile, Igaida has urged Leopards fans to remain loyal to the club despite a poor run of 10 matches without a win, managing only 16 points in 15 matches. The 13-time champions are now 12th on the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) log.
“This season, our main aim is to make sure that we win shield cup and finish among the top five teams in the league. “We are telling the fans to be loyal even more as they have been before,” Igaida appealed.
The latest 2-0 defeat to KPL new entrants Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday has attracted criticism from fans, hence the appeal by Igaida.
