PHOTOS: Ezekiel Kemboi leads Kenyas medal sweep at World Championship

Ezekiel Kemboi on Monday led a 1-2-3-4 Kenyan finish in the Men’s 3,000m steeplechase final at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing, China.

Kemboi, who clocked 8.11.28 seconds, added the title to those he won in 2009, 2011 and 2013 and to the Olympic gold medals he landed in 2004 and 2012.

Conseslus Kipruto, 2013 World silver medalist came second in 8:12.38 while Brimin Kipruto came third in 8:12.54.

American Evan Jager had taken the lead at the start of the final lap but was unable to hold off the Kenyans. Jairus Kipchoge Birech and Daniel Huling finished fourth and fifth respectively.

The win is Kenya’s first clean sweep in the event in eight years.
