Facilitate us for a masterpiece performance: Luvandwa

KPA’s and national team basketball player Hilda Luvandwa is positive that with proper facilitation, the country will table grand results both the national and club championships.

The former Equity Hawks sensation who captained the national basketball team ‘The Lionesses’ in the just concluded All Africa games qualifiers in Uganda, noted that the team already has worthy coaching staff but the training amenities are still not at par.

According to Luvandwa, poor facilitation has immensely contributed to the below par performance by both clubs and national teams in the preceding years.

“Mostly, when we head for club championships or rather national level competitions we are normally dominated by teams like Angola and Mozambique who are from Zone 6 and lately we have not had a nice performance at clubs level,” said Luvandwa.

However, Luvandwa noted that even without that all-around facilitation, they’re still doing quite well and eager to show their mettle in Africa.

The Lionesses managed to reach the finals in the All African Games qualifiers where they slumped to a 90-72 defeat in the pointers of the Egyptians, with Lionesses’ Felmas Koranga scooping best rebounder tag with 70 of them in her name.

“Although we are still doing quite well, we can even do better if we receive facilitation that equals or even surpass our counterparts so that when we clash with them when we are well prepared,”said  Koranga.

The Lionesses are set to make an entrant in the Afro-basket championships to be staged in Dakar, Senegal.
