Family say no improvement yet for stroke-hit Kadenge

No improvement yet has been reported in the condition of ailing football legend Joe Kadenge, who is admitted at the Nairobi Hospital after suffering stroke on Wednesday.

According to his son Rodgers Kadenge, the former AFC Leopards ace could not communicate as at Thursday evening, with doctors attending to him at High Dependency Unit (HDU).

“I’ve just left the hospital; mzee is not able to talk, since yesterday. Doctors said it is a stroke that we think has come as result of his daughter’s demise on Sunday. He started to change gradually after learning of Evelyn’s death and the situation got worse on Wednesday, when we decided to take him to hospital,” Rodgers said.

Evelyn Kadenge was married in the US, and will consequently be buried there on February 18 as divulged by Rodgers.

“People are already making arrangements to travel for the burial. Mzee cannot of course travel with his condition now, and I think it affects him,” he added.

Kadenge, 83, has been unwell in several instances for the last two years, prompting courtesy calls by national leaders including President Kenyatta and former Prime Minsiter Raila Odinga.

However says apart from the current setback, the old Kadenge has been enjoying good health.
