President, fans elated as Kenya beats Fiji in World Rugby 7s

Kenya ended Fiji’s 26 match unbeaten streak after a 19-22 finish at the Paris Sevens on Saturday.

The last time Fiji lost a World Rugby Sevens match was on March 5 to the United States, a post on the Kenya 7s official Twitter account reads.

According to the team’s Captain Collins Injera, Kenyan fans bolstered them and were the main reason behind the big win.

“We give credit to the Kenyan fans who came in and gave us the moral support that we needed. They really pushed us through this game,” he told CNN.

An elated President Uhuru Kenyatta who is in Quebec Canada for the G7 summit, took to Twitter to congratulate the Kenyan team.

“What a game! Stamina, Focus and beautiful play by #Kenya7s. That win against Fiji in #Paris7s is a great start to my day here at Quebec, Canada where the programme for #G7Charlevoix is about to start,” he said.
