Federation chief Mwendwa challenges Taveta County to embrace football

Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa has made a clarion call on parents in Taita-Taveta County, challenging them to ensure they process birth certificates for their children as it will assist them to join football leagues under the FKF structure.

In an address to the parents at the weekend during the launch of Taita All Stars at Dawson Mwanyumba Stadium in Wundanyi, Mwendwa said that it was imperative for the parents to get the vital document as it would help the budding youngsters in pursuit of their dreams.

Last year, the county failed to host the FKF under -13 league because most of the youngsters did not have birth certificates.

“I realised that the FKF under-13 league was not held in Taveta branch because most children lacked birth certificates,” Mwendwa lamented.”A player’s future lies in this vital document. So, I kindly urge parents to ensure the children have these documents to make it easy for them to pursue their dreams.”

On the other hand, County Governor Granton Samboja who led other leaders in unveiling the 25 players who will turn out for Taita All-Star urged the players to observe discipline in their careers.

“Today you have featured in one match, but this is just the beginning. We will ensure you that you prosper in future,”Samboja said in reference to  Taita All-Stars 5-4 post-match penalty victory over Soy FC from Kakamega County.

Wundanyi Member of Parliament (MP) Danson Mwashako who was among leaders present said that he will work hand- in- hand with county sports minister to ensure sports talents are nurtured.
